Primaries, Pollsters, etc.

It appears that many voters are confused on the primaries, especially this year in relation to states like Florida and Michigan.

Iowa and New Hampshire have always had their primary elections first for as long as I can remember. So if you lived in those states, you trotted off to the voting booths long before the rest of us.  Why?  I'm not really sure.....it's just the way it's always been.  And by being so......they tend to sway the rest of the country with votes.  And here's a little scenario of the way it always was:

Your candidate is running.....let's just say, Joe Biden.......if you live in a state other than NH or Iowa, if Biden didn't win in those TWO states, you as a voter will not be able to vote for him in YOUR state.  Why?  Because he will have no hope of winning and will have withdrawn. He will not appear on your ballot when the time for YOU to vote arrives.  The reason he will have withdrawn?  His money will have run out because the powers that be will not give him more money to fund his campaign.

And MOST important......WHO decided that Iowa and NH get to choose OUR candidates for OUR ballot when our primary arrives?  THIS is the problem and THIS is the reason that Florida has pushed ahead our primary date to January 29.  And for doing this......shame on US for speaking up......we are being punished.

The remaining candidates......Obama, Edwards and Hillary......are afraid to cross the good ole boys which dates way back to politics as usual. ........I'm referring to the politics of back room, cigar smoking politicos who like things exactly the way they are.  Never mind, US the people!  Heck no......we're insignificant.  Money talks!

Any of the candidates that's saying, "I'm for change and I'll change Washington" needs to be more intensely researched.  If they're SO much for change.......why are they listening to the powers that be, not coming to Florida to campaign and allowing their names to be removed from the Michigan primary ballot?  I'll let you, the reader and voter, answer that question.

But the last time "I" checked, I'm mighty sick and tired of what I've considered a borderline dictatorship in this country.  And sorry.....but all of this primary crap smells of "dictatorship" in my opinion.  I want democracy.....plain and simple!  So there ya have it, folks........the story of what's going on concerning our primary here in Florida and why I'm mighty angry that both Obama and Hillary are following along like sheep.  As for me, I've had ENOUGH sheep in my government and my country to last a lifetime!

And you may have noticed the new icon on my sidebar in relation to pollsters......I've had it with them as well!  So if you click the icon and you're as disgusted as I am with polls......sign the petition on the Huffington Post.

See you here next time............

I agree with saying no to pollsters. I don't think though that it serves us well to have every primary at the same time or within a month or two. I know many states, California included, wanted more voice in the candidates. I also understand that some voters are swayed by ridiculous things-- like caring who Iowa or New Hampshire preferred. It never impacted my vote (and I have voted a lot of times-- late), and it would not those who took time to have the issues and candidates researched and voted on that.

My concern with all primaries being so early is where does that leave us? months before the convention and no real time to change anything if everybody moves it up to January. I'd rather they had a longer primary season with it stretched out. When RFK was killed in California, it was after our primary in Oregon and they all counted. It mattered and the votes were being tallied still. It had not been decided by NH or Iowa. I think that is a media invention. In the past it used to be sometimes not decided until the convention. Having every state vote in January, which is where this could be heading, as who doesn't want to be first, just leaves me uneasy. This isn't' just a concern of the party aristocrats but also people like me who have been informed but would rather have some time to be sure it's the right person which I am afraid this time with the rush of votes, won't end up being the case. If nobody gets a majority that gives them the nomination, which if it's close might happen, then the convention might again matter. It hasn't for quite awhile

What a mess it all is...Just a damn bloody mess! And there is nothing that is accurate anymore. Nothing! Corruption is everywhere at every turn!
Do I sound bitter? Well, I am! I signed the petition my dear, and I read The Huffington Post almost every day, when I can...(They send me that email link letter...) But somehow missed this petition...! So thank You for this!
I LOVE your passion, Terri!

Well, Hillary wasn't TOO much of a sheep here in Michigan. She was smart enough to keep her name on the ballot, whereas Obama and Edwards took their names off. She just didn't campaign here. She won handily, though "uncommitted" drew a substantial portion of the vote as well.

I agree with you 100 percent on this one. Either the primaries need to come closer together or all at once. It's no fair to give the voters in a few states so much power.
